Fall Back…into Healthy Habits

Daylight Savings is approaching and with that comes some positives and negatives.  I personally am *all in* for that extra hour of sleep, but those dark afternoons....yikes!  In case you need some tips to cope, here are a few:

1.       Seek help if needed, before winter.  I can speak from personal experience here.  Virtual therapy is amazing! I can meet with my therapist without ever having to hop in my car and drive 25 minutes each way.  That is beautiful within itself. Stop waiting and call someone now.  Need a recommendation? Ask a friend, ask me, ask anyone!

2.       Plan fitness.  At this point we are used to working out in or around the home.  Set up a space in your house where you can easily get your sweat on –– or bundle up and get outside!  Whatever you do, make a plan and stick to it. Added accountability can come from ta virtual trainer or a fitness buddy.

3.       Safely socialize.  Bundle up and meet a friend for coffee in a park.   If that's not possible, schedule a facetime or zoom date.  We all did this a ton in the beginning, but with the weather and sunlight changing, it might be a good time to bring it back.

4.       Soups.  In my opinion, they are among the easiest ways to obtain nutrition in a meal, while keeping everyone happy.   Whenever you are working on a shopping list, make sure to have carrots, onion, celery, and stock on the list.    Keep it simple, but also jazz it up. Follow along on Facebook for some great soup recipes this season.

5.       Cozy vibes.  Whether you are working from home, in an office, or have some free time –– create a cozy environment for yourself.  Nice lights, maybe an essential oil diffuser (safer than candles), and a warm sweater all work wonders.  You can find ample lists online (https://ideas.ted.com/9-things-you-can-do-to-make-working-from-home-more-joyful/) with links to all these things here, or just some inspiration for making the space more enjoyable (https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/working-from-home-tips-productivity-36733750) Enjoy!

Stay safe, stay healthy, and take care of yourself.
